What’s so good about Youthfund?

Youthfund is a non profit organisation dedicated to providing young people with support to help them reach their dreams. We are supported by the North Shore YouthworX Trust, who acts as our umbrella organisation.

What makes Youthfund unique is the fact that the board consists entirely of young volunteers, aged between 14 and 24. In other words, we are “Youth for Youth,” – young people empowering other young people to do great things within the community. We achieve this in three main ways:

• By providing financial assistance, network contacts and support for youth initiated events and projects

• By allowing young people to be on the board and become a part of the decision making process, thereby enhancing their leadership potential.

• Last but not least, by creating positive experiences for many youth participants at the events we support. We are having a much broader impact in the youth community than just the people who receive funding.

Our current scope of operations

We currently operate in Auckland’s North Shore Community. Every year we receive hundreds of funding applications from young people around the North Shore.

In order for an applicant to receive funding, they need to present us with an idea that many young people will benefit from. This enables us to maximise our impact on the youth community. However, whilst we encourage and support our applicants, their events and initiatives are solely based on their original ideas; and it is their own creativity and commitment that turn these ideas into reality.

How you can help

We work with young people between the ages of 14 and 24 years.  Some of our applicants are too young to work on their own and require a supporting adult.

Our policy states that applicants under 20 need to have a supporting adult. In most cases, funding will be assigned to the adult who takes responsibility for expenditure and accountability.

We feel that young people should not be disadvantaged because of their age and we need your involvement to help make their ideas come to life.
